In recent times Bollywood has been all gloss and glamour with very little substance. But Kahaani has come in like a breath of fresh air. The plot –A pregnant women comes to India from London in search of her missing husband. A one line narrative made into an intelligent and gripping narrative with the help of three main characters
Vidya Balan as Vidya Bagchi plays the main lead. A power packed performance from Vidya Balan after Dirty Picture. She carries the entire film on her shoulders and delivers big time. A myriad of emotions and sheer poetry on screen. No wonder people have been referring to her as the Meryl Streep of India.
Parambrata Chatterjee as Satyaki plays an able supporting hand as Vidya’s helper. A well etched character with a mythological parllel. He manages to shine through the entire film despite Vidya’s towering presence.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Khan the no nonsense police with a devil may care attitude. Another well thought out choice by the director.
Another Important Character is the city of Kolkata with all its grandeur during Durga Pooja. As Vidya searches for her missing husband, the director takes us on a ride through the city.

A great attempt by Sujoy Gosh and team. It takes great belief to market a story based on the script with no big male leads and he has done it with ease. Hats off for giving us a Bollywood Classic
